SIKIZANA TRUST FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Was founded in 2005 as a community based organization to rescue orphans and abandoned children in Kenya and promote rights and education of the rural poor children. It is based on rules and practice learned by the founder, Mr. Cosmas Mutinda Nzilili at Starehe Boys Centre a premier school in Kenya where he was on scholarship as a boy from a poor family. Together with Rachael his wife, they opened up their home to be a home for the vulnerable children from their community. Daddy and Mum to the many children who have come through the home.

We seek to develop, promote and advocate for a grassroots empowerment of the young people through education to enable them determine their future.

Our vision

Illuminating the community, One child at a time.

The Rescue Centre

We run a rescue centre in the lower eastern part of Kenya, (Mtito Andei) where the rescued children are provided with shelter, food, litigation services and back to school support. Above all, the children have a mother, father, sisters and brothers. They have a family. The children are usually cases of abandonement, abuse or are homeless orphans without immediate families. Under this activity, we respond to sexual assault and Gender based violence against children.
